Elkhorn Slough Elasmobranch Project
Site Description

The Elkhorn Slough is a tidal marine estuary which winds several kilometers inland. This tidal slough environment is comprised of a relatively deep main channel, shallower tidal flats and estuaries, sub-canals, salt marshes and wet-lands. Seven species of sharks and rays of all generational classes cruise this varied and vibrant habitat for at least part of their seasonal cycle, making the slough an ideal study site.
